Tarot by Jacqueline | Jinxes and Crossed Conditions – Pt. 2

Now that you have determined that maybe you might be jinxes or “crossed up” by someone who is jealous of your good fortune or life, it is time to confirm your suspicions. One of the best way to do so is to get a thorough spiritual reading. Do some research and read about the person who you are considering to do a reading for you. Ask them if they can give you clear, honest answers. Good psychic or spiritual consultants are God based, not necessarily from one Church, but have a good foundation of the Good Book.

When you have found out that you have been jinxed or are the recipient of negativity, either by a reading or your own detective work, it is the time to begin ridding yourself of the bad vibes and evil intentions sent your way. Each case is different, and the time to remedy yourself from the envy and jealously may vary depending on case, so do not despair when your first attempt in getting rid of this might result in an easing of the symptoms, but not removal of all. It is with constant vigilance and ‘being on your toes’ will keep you and your home from being an attractant to people’s envy, jealousy and evil.

Here are common traditional hoodoo and conjure steps to ridding yourself of a Jinx or Crossed Condition:

1.) Thorough Cleaning of the Home: I am talking about doing a regular deep clean then going back over the whole house to spiritually cleanse, protect and seal the home. You will need to move furniture, get into closet corners, under beds, washing windows, curtains and more. There are many items to use, but old tyme hoodoo and spiritual workers use Chinese Wash, a blend of fragrant Oriental grasses like lemongrass that will “chase off” evil. Others will use something with a pine scent, as the Native Americans believe that pine brings about good Spirits. Others have used a solution of one cap full of clear ammonia to a bucket of water, in which a cup of Epsom Salts has been added. Wipe everything down, even if you have just gone over it with regular cleaning products, as the solution will pick up and disperse any residual negativity.

2.) Spritually Cleaning Your Clothes: There are some who work in industries that collect negativity because they exist. These places of pent up jealousy, envy and anger are prison and jails, hospitals, the streets where garbage collectors and street workers toil, dumps and recycling centers, thrift stores, graveyards and those who deal with the dead such as mortuaries and coroners. If you are employed in any of these professions, it is wise to remove your shoes at the front door and carry them in to place on a brown paper bag to store and immediately proceed to your bathroom to shower and change before engaging with other family members in the home. Store work clothes in a basket different than your home and leisure clothing, so as to not spread the negativity. When laundering said work clothes, use a half cup of clear ammonia in the wash water, making sure not to add to water that contains bleach for safety sake – the gas can kill you – and then rinsing a second time to remove any residual negativity. You can read more about the uses of ammonia at Free Candle Spells “Hoodoo Products and Uses | Ammonia and Epsom Salts – Dynamic Duo of Negativity Cleansing”. Click on the title to go to the article.

3.) Spiritually Cleansing of the Body: You yourself can be the target of personal attack. When this happens, immerse yourself in a tubful of warm bathtub that contains 2 cups of Epsom Salts. It has been said that Epsom Salts is an easy and a ‘first line of defense’ to negativity that surrounds you. Get in the warm bath, making sure you hold your nose and dunk your head under the waterline for full immersion for a few minutes, and soak in bath until water gets cool. Stand, shower as usual, dress and enjoy the rest of your day.

The last part of this 3 part series will discuss keeping negativity from re-entering your workspace and home and how to protect yourself from others’ envy and jealousy.

Tarot by Jacqueline | Easy Information Tips for My Services for You

Because of some confusion regarding my services for you that I have experienced recently, I thought it would be good that I detail out a bit more what you can expect from me when you seek a reading or root work services from me. this way, there are no mysteries between us. Enjoy!

1. ) PAYMENT and APPOINTMENTS

It is my practice that I do not set an appointment until my client has paid for a through my site, www.tarotbyjacqueline.com. Pay first, and I will contact you between 4 to 36 hours, depending on day and time factors. Once I have received an order, I will send out a list of available time slots. I am typically booked two to three days out, so it is really rare if you can get a same day consultation, however, sometimes it does happen. Because of my respect for other clients, I take and book clients in their time slots as they respond to me by e-mail. Watch your e-mails frequently, as if you are of the nature to go a few days without logging in, you may miss an opportunity to get your reading done.

I will do emergency root work, but I have to have a consultation with you first. I do time-sensitive root work, but I will have to have a reading with you first

Despite requests, I do not “bump” other clients for an additional charge but if you need an after hours reading (after 6 pm pacific/9 pm eastern) I will read for you for an additional $20.00, pre-paid before booking the time slot. This way, I am compensated for time taken from my family and the lateness of the hour.  The reason I don’t take your appointment until after you’ve paid is that I end up with a bunch of “promised” time slots for clients who end up not paying, cancel at the last minute, and I am in limbo, waiting to work for someone who really may need it – not to mention my own life is “on hold” because of those empty time slots.

2. ) I will send you an e-mail confirmation

Once you’ve paid for a consultation I will email you with a list of available time slots and I will ask for your telephone number. Please do not e-mail me with a story of what is going on as I want the tarot cards to give you a clear answer without any predisposition made out for them. If you send an e-mail such as,” I just paid for a reading and I want to choose my time slot.” , I will answer when I can open your order and send out a schedule. I will send you and e-mail with appointment slots in it. Respond to that email and remember to include your phone number, so that you can nab that first open time slot. I will allow you 24 hours to scoop up that time slot before offering it to someone else, so check your e-mails frequently.

3. )  Your Call at Your Appointment Time

Once you have chosen an appointment time, I will call you for your reading Consultations take about 45-50 minutes, with the remaining time spent on any question you have asked or for suggested candle work or root work you may be interested in. Your appointment time  includes a tarot reading and a discussion of your situation as well as determining the best course of magical action. This can include spells I cast on your behalf, or baths I send to you for you to take, or mojo bags, etc. At the end of our call,  I’ll have the cost for the candle work or root work suggested. You do not have to make a decision at that time, however, if you want services done after we hang up, you will need to send an e-mail to me with your request. Please do not ask for a quote before your reading, as if you know that you only want a candle burned, you can order that without a call or a reading, however, I cannot guarantee that the work you are prescribing for yourself is accurate for the situation. The responsibility for that will be on you. Pricing is custom and depends on the severity of your case and desired outcome.

4. ) Payment Upfront for Candle and Root Work Services

When I quote you the cost for custom services, I will email the price to you with Paypal Money Request for you to make your payment. I will accept Cash or Money Orders, but you must send it Certified Mail to my address I will provide for you and you must wait until said item gets delivered and Money Order has cleared the bank. This can take up to two calendar weeks. If you choose to pay by PayPal and choose an e-check, services will not be rendered until e-check has cleared – again about two calendar weeks. Once payment has cleared, I may ask for photos or items I ask you to send me. I will provide address to mail these to me.

5. ) Patience as the Work Begins

I tell people, “This isn’t Burger King – you can’t have it your way and in 30 seconds.” They chuckle, but it is true. Anything worth having is worth the wait as the root work does it’s ‘stuff’. Your rootwork will be done at the best magical timing determined by the phases of the Moon and my expertise. Your job is to relax in the knowing that it is in the hands of  someone who is on your side and stop vexing over each and every detail. The sooner you can get into a mindset of Trust, the faster the root work and candles will work for you. You can email me throughout the process, but do not ask for a daily update, as this is not fair for others wanting work done for them as well. A quick e-mail once or twice a week is sufficient, until the work is done and deliver the final news. Be patient, as I can’t guarantee I’ll get back to you immediately and it may be a day or so because of other clients’ needs.

6. ) Photo Proof is sent by e-mail

I email photos to my clients as proof of the work being completed. I send photos of candles being lit within 24 hours or so so that you can be assured you are not being taken for your money. I can understand that some have been ‘taken’ by unethical workers, and photo proof of the work being done is one of the ways I validate my services. I then send a photo at the end of the work, so you can see the results. I also send a synopsis of the situation and what you can expect.  I do this so you stop worrying  about your situation and about the magic, and also as proof that the work has been done and that I am an ethical rootworker. Other rootworkers ask you to take their word that the work was done. That’s how it works. I operate in one-off, problem based spell casting. I do not work on retainer over extended periods of time. I work on your one spell at a time before working additional candles for you.

If you want root work or other spiritual services done, please contact me at admin(at)tarotbyjacqueline.com

Tarot by Jacqueline | New Orleans 2011 – Can’t A Girl Get a Reading in NOLA?

This is another entry in my travels and experiences in New Orleans in April 2011.

One of my things that I wanted to do during my brief stay in New Orleans was to get a reading. Now, some of you may wonder why someone who reads for others would want a reading from someone else? Why not D.I.Y (do-it-yourself)?

Some people do read their own cards for themselves, but I have not been convinced that what I am picking up is really a ‘message’. That is why I am so hesitant to read for my children and close friends that I know many details about their lives – you just don’t know when the psychic images go away and “Mama” starts giving advice!

So, I chose to visit three of the more popular places that tourists go to get a reading while in the French Quarter – Erzulie’s, Voodoo Spiritual Temple, and Bottom of the Cup Tea Room.

I chose late Tuesday afternoon, figuring that most would want to escape the humidity, it was middle of the week with less weekend tourists and happy hours on Bourbon Street. I wanted to go to Erzulie’s especially, since I have been fascinated with but not very knowledgeable with the beleif system of Voodoo. No luck, as Erzulie’s is only open from Thursday through Sunday during the time I visited. I guess the Quarter gets lively starting on Thursday, making it more advantageous to be open when weekend tourists fly in.

Next on my list was the Bottom of the Cup Tea Room, which has been around for a very, very long time. I have never seen or experienced a tea leaf reading, so I thought this would be a great adventure. The shop was filled with tall cases of may crystal and rock globes and other common spiritual supplies like herbs and incense. It reminded me more of a cross between a lawyers office and a new age shop with a bit of a botanica thrown in. The gentleman behind the counter told me that I would have over an hour wait since the reader was just sitting down with someone else and that they close a short while later after that and before the ‘wild and crazy’ party people get too tipsy.

I then worked my way through the streets to another shop, Rev. Zombie’s Voodoo Shoppe, but it was too chotic for me – a mixture of botanica candles, african zulu gods and Height-Ashbury hippie-punk.

So the next day, I visited Miriam Chamani’s Voodoo Spiritual Temple, which site just outside the Quarter and down from the St. Louis Cemetery. Nicholas Cage was filming a moved in one of the buildings on the street and we had to cross through stopped traffic and back again to get to the Temple. The High Priestess was in and had a brief conversation with me, but was unable to see me for a reading because she had acconting to attend to as a deadline was looming. I was able to to visit the temple room with all of it’s altars, and I left a small offering for Agwe before leaving. As I was exiting the shop, the person Miriam was waiting to see arrived – the tax man! Strike three at the Voodoo Spiritual Temple!

So, this reader did not get her reading from any of the famous sites for readings in New Orleans. Maybe next time will be the charm.

Tarot by Jacqueline | Jinxes and Crossed Conditions – Pt. 1

On a regular basis, I speak with clients regarding their streak of bad luck that they have come into or have been dealing with for some time, and are seeking spiritual guidance or product information in order to get back to a normal life. Some already ‘know’ what ‘it’ is, as they have either been told by a prior reader or spiritual worker, or have an idea that something is not quite right in their household. It could be an item, liquid, powder or even a person that has entered their home and thus caused chaos.

I am addressing a term that is widely used to describe a series of negative, unfortunate events that is called “being jinxed” or “crossed up”. A crossed or jinxed condition is when you are having a series of mishaps or a period of time in your life that it seems nothing is going ‘right’. I am not talking about a general good ole’ “Whammy” month – where your brakes gone out and you had to pay for next month’s prom dress. This is that and you lost your purse, the bank bacame overdrawn because someone gave you a bad check, and all of a sudden everyone at work is looking at you like you have lost your mind. Sometimes this is a condition, or a sense of being, that you may not be able to place a finger on it, but you know “sumthin’s up”.

A “crossed condition” or the act of being “crossed up” is commonly known also as being “jinxed”, and I will will use both terms interchangeably through this article because of the way the genral public uses these words. Jinxes can be placed either intentionally or uninterntionally, as with some people wh have the ‘gift’ of the Evil Eye or Jealous Eye, which can cause the recipient much trouble. Jinxes, crossed conditions and curses – all one and the same, can either be limited to one specific area of a person’s life, such as the job or love life, or can be all inclusive to every aspect of a person’s life. It could also be familial or generational, meaning either to the whole family of a person, whether it is the current living generation or the entire family, including those yet to be born. One would think that it was intstantaneous, insane jealousy that could cause this but most will find that family or generational curses are born of family members and other relatives who are wishing the other side of the family tree ill fortune and ruin.

SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS OF BEING CROSSED OR JINXED

The first inkling that you are having a longer than normal bad luck day or week is when a series of mishaps keep happening, one after the other. A person may have a really bad month handling money, despite not purchasing anything different from the month before. Trouble begins at work, or you may suddenly lose your job, despite getting a glowing review earlier. Romance goes down the drain, as you and your mate might begin to fight over the little stuff, and you once peaceful home is now a war zone. You might have a series of health issues that come out of nowhere, and there seems to not be any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes the feeling of ill will is so prevalent that the client just “knows” it but some jinxes are so cleverly disguised that no one would have thought it to be. I have seen jinxes or curse come in presents like a figurine or a doll given to a child with herbs and a cloth bag of ‘stuff’ placed inside it. I have seen blatant curses, like a voodoo doll mailed to a family, along with the oil bottle and candle included. Ironically, this last situation had a happy outcome – the family found out that a family “friend” was trying to molest their youngest daughter, and the package was a “wake up call” to them. They immediately confronted everyone in the household, accusing and yelling, and the Truth came out! I truly beleive the Higher Power had their hand on that case.

Other Symptoms of Being Crossed:

* Dizzy, Dropping Things, Off Balance, Clumsy, Forgetfulness

* Can’t Sleep at Night or Unable to Feel Rested After Night in Bed

* Things Breaking when you Touch Them (glassware, especially)

* General Malaise or Exhaustion that Food or Rest cannot Cure

Tarot by Jacqueline | New Orleans 2011 – St. Louis Cemetery #1

This is a series of articles about my spiritual experiences in New Orleans in April 2011, when I traveled to make a pilgrimage to the statue of St. Expedite, who resides in the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Rampart Street.

The day began very humid and was rapidly becoming warm. My first stop was the Chapel to place my clients’ petitions at the base of St. Expedite, however, the church shop where I was to purchase the candle was not open. I decided to return later in the morning and made my way to the St. Louis Cemetery #1, just a few short blocks away. I was ‘glistening’ with the effects of the humidity, reported to be at 88% on the morning news, and my hair bacame a puff ball as a result of it. I decided the best way to control it was to keep it clipped in a bun.

It was a short but warm stroll from the Church to the Cemetery. The cemetery gates were locked as I arrived just a few minutes before 9 am but within a couple of minutes, a gentleman came up to us (I was with my husband) and began to exchange pleasantries with us. The gates were opened by the NOLA city staff as the gentleman introduces himself as Walter Ross, cemetery historian and guide. He then proceeds to take us on a tour of the cemetery, along with two more couples who joined us at the gate.

Walter, articulate and very knowledgeable, tells us of the origins of the cemetery, whose dirt base was from dredging  Lake Pontchartrain, bringing the dirt from there and containing many tiny seashells. He explained the reason those who are buried here are in vaults above the ground, as the water table for New Orleans is within 2 feet of the ground we were standing on and that in times of flooding, if the coffins were not encased in concrete, they would shift in the soft earth and relocate themselves elsewhere – including outside of the cemetery walls! He also explained the original wall, which resembles a row of brick pizza ovens, are used sometimes as temporary ‘housing’ for the recently passed, until they are able to open the family plot and inter them there. In the St. Louis Cemetery #1, the plot of land, with it’s upright tomb, is considered family-owned, and that more than one family member can be buried there. Walter explained that some of the tombs can hold up to 75 family members, sans coffins, in one place. There are many beautiful monuments, and there are still spaces this very day for families who want to be buried there.

There were many interesting tombs to see. Walter explained the origins of the tips of the iron gates that encase some of the burial plots. traditions holds that if the iron pillars were tipped with a spike, then the family was Spanish, as the belief was that the points would keeps away bad spirits. The French families were more hospitable, using pineapples, a popular symbol of hospitality and welcome, on the top of their iron fences. There were beautiful pauper’s grave sites from the societies of the French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese families in New Orleans, who care for those countrymen who cannot afford a funeral. There were some new additions to the cemetery like the one that Nicholas Cage had built for his upcoming third installment of “National Treasure” by Disney Studios.

Walter at the Nick Cage "National Treasure 3" pyramid

Walter took us by the original Marie LaVeau grave, the ‘other’ Marie Laveau (her granddaughter) grave and the famous Doctor John DuPre, who taught the original Marie LaVeau herbal knowledge and healing wisdom. Legend has it that Marie, a hairdresser by trade, began to pray and light candles for them when hearing of the troubles her ladies were having in their lives. Marie’s success in prayer and candle work spread, so much so that she began to see the gentlemen of some of the same ladies that were asking her for spiritual help with! Marie, along with a good friend named Ann, became spiritual workers in their own right, but both owe their botanical education to Dr. John, a Haitian voodoo priest.

Now, for most who visit the cemetery, right beyond the gates, one sees a tomb for the Laveau and Paris families. This is the site of the second Marie Laveau, who is the granddaughter of the original Marie. Marie had many daughters, each named Marie, but to distinguish one from another, each had a different middle name, so one might have been named Marie Suzanne and another Marie Blanche, for example. When visitors who tour the grounds without the aid of a historian like Walter Ross, one would assume that this is the grave site of the original Marie Laveau, the one who started it all.

Not so, as this is the second Marie’s grave:

Marie LaVeau the second tomb

This is the tomb of famous Voudoun priest, “Dr. John” DuPre:

Tomb of Dr. John DuPre

Marie LaVeau the first tomb

Above, pictured is the tomb of Marie LaVeau the first

It is said that is you wish the spirit of these famous spiritual workers to assist in a problem you need work on, you are to mark three X’s like this X X X on the tomb when making an offering of your choice, whether it be flowers, tobacco, liquor or some of the other smaller items such as a coin, seashell or rock. It is said that if the spirit assist you and the situation is a success, that you must make a trip back to the cemetery to make a circle around your X X X marking to shoe that it was complete. There are signs around the area that state violations regarding tomb desecration, and Walter and I chuckled about the difference about religious belief and governmental law and how it can misconstrued, depending on your purpose. Walter told us that the Catholic Church in New Orleans turns the other way in regards to Voodoo, as it is a belief system that has been in place with certain societies for too long to attempt to suppress it.

Walter took us around and showed us a few areas where parts of the movie,“Easy Rider” were filmed, including the infamous Peter Fonda/Karen Black lovemaking scene. He has quite an interesting story about the reaction of the Catholic Church with that scene and how many Italians were so upset about another scene that the sent ‘dignitaries’ out to California to visit the filmmaker to ‘encourage’ them to cut the scene.

If you get to visit the cemetery, look for Walter Ross, a wiry older African-American man who rides up on a bicycle at 9 am at the gates of St. Louis Cemetery #1 and has a lanyard full of badges. Make sure you tuck a few dollars into his hand a the end of the tour and maybe he will take you back to a special place where you can see inside an unknown tomb, one whose faceplate blew off during Hurricane Katrina and is currently being researched for restoration.

Tarot by Jacqueline | Spring Cleaning Your Space for Good Luck and Blessings

Greetings!

This week I painted the hallway and a bedroom, cleaned the carpets and lo and behold, the grass and mallow that was taking up my yard got a mowing!

This was the first week that we had no rain all week and I got busy getting all the Winter’s funk out of my home. I got the girls to clean out their clothes closet and we made a big run to Goodwill. We are lightening our load.  Ironic as it sounds, I read somewhere that when people start reducing their clutter and things not used any longer, they lose weight. Well, I think we all need to lose a few pounds, so maybe you could join me in cleaning out your closets and garages!

I came across this article about Spring Cleaning Rituals for Good Fortune by www.spiritnow.com and I thought it would be something good to pass along. The most simplest of negativity remover is Epsom Salts diluted in warm water, wiping down all you can with clean rags dipped and wrung out. You can even take a clean, new corn broom and deem it your Negativity Cleaning Broom, and dip the tips of the broom in the Epsom Salts water and lightly brush over your floors and carpets, always starting at the farthest back end of the house or apartment and working towards and trough the front door, sown the steps or landing, and ending at the curb.

Click these blue words, Spring Cleaning Rituals for Good Fortune and read a bit more about using ritual in your daily life to bring in Blessings and Good Luck.

Tarot by Jacqueline | When is it Time for Spiritual Work or Reading?

Tarot by Jacqueline, Elk Grove, CA

One question I get often from people is in regards to the frequency of readings. One of my queries I ask when beginning a reading for a client is if they have ever had a tarot card reading and consultation or when was the last time they had a reading. My intentions are good; for the first time before the tarot deck, I want to give them a little historical and cultural background on what to expect at a reading. For those who have had a reading, I ask because if they just recently had a reading and perhaps a subsequent consultation on spell work, I wish for a good time allotment in order to see if the candles that were burned worked, or if they need to finish working with the prior spiritual consultant or reader.

I also screen for “psychic junkies”. These are poor souls who spend a great amount of money going from psychic to intuitive reader to tarot card consultations hoping to find one that ‘gets it right’ – meaning to validate their own feelings and tell them what they want to hear. A good reader does not give you “lip service”, but actually advises you when the pursuit of an idea or another individual will cause more harm than good.

Once the indications that these two portions of the appointment has been clear, the client gets a reading. The question of frequency of candle work or return visits are asked by me through Obi divination, an African-based methodology of divination using cowrie shells (coconut shells in actual ritual), so that we are absolutely clear on what strategies to undertake to create change to the situation to make it positive. Sometimes however, individuals need to know the warning signs of the need for a consultation, tarot reading or spiritual work. Here is a list of some signs:

This is what to look for as indications of need of a reading or spiritual work:

When things start to break - This is not just you dropping things, but when glasses seem to ‘pop’ in your hand and you are using a regular pressure on holding it and the glass is not cracked to begin with. Also, plates “jump” out of your hand, especially when food is on them. This is an indication that an offering is due.

When everything starts to fall apart at once - I’m talking about the brakes on the car, the engine, the lock on the front door, the purse or wallet gets snatched or lost, the dog bites everyone or it just is beginning to feel like everything is breaking down and falling apart all round you. This is time to get a reading and determine what happened or who has it out for you.

When everyone is fighting and arguing with you - This indicates that someone is trying to cause a break up or discord on your family. Time to determine who ‘jinxed’ you and throw it back at them.

When you just know everyone is whispering behind your back- This is a no brainer – you have indicators on your body when something is amiss. Your hair stand on end either at the nape of your neck or on your arms or you just feel like you got to go bathe after someone has left your presence. That is ‘spiritual funk’ and it just latched itself onto you.

When you receive a raise, a settlement, win at the casino, get married, get something or other ‘big good thing’ – Believe it or not, sometimes your best enemies are your neighbors, co-workers and family members who cannot Bless You for getting what you deserve. They ‘move their jaw’ about that you have and what THEY don’t have – despite you having to work long and hard or suffer as a result of it.  These types of people cannot look at you and see you as an inspiration to get up off their duff and work hard like you. No, they would rather grab you by the ankle and bring you down to their ladder rung because climbing the Ladder of Success is too hard to do. Your success ‘show them up’ that they are taking life too easy and reaping their rewards while you work hard and reap yours. This be about the time things start going ‘bad’ and it is time to do some spiritual work.

When you receive a strange package or find something spilled outside your doorstep or smeared on your desk or car door handle - These signs mean that someone is trying to jinx or ‘cross you up’. Time for some Fiery Wall of Protection Candles.

When you are just ‘not feelin’ right’ or acting “tipsy” - If you are relatively in good health and have no problematic health issues, you might have had something thrown down in your path so you walk over and in it to ‘cross up’, ‘jinx’ or bring misfortune on you. Again, time for some psychic detective work and find out who is doing this to you and why.
